Sure no one is forced too. But it’s completely integrated into most of society, and is controlled but a handful of people.
If you’re referring to Ev Williams, he is no longer running Medium. I’ve no idea about Substack, but I wouldn’t describe it, or Medium, as a social media network, nor does they have the same societal impact.
This is quite a statement: "the overlords of the current social media system".
Remember, no one is forced to participate in social media. Is Substack run by an overlord? I believe Medium is.
