One problem with people in general and our current culture even more so is that we're not willing to pay attention to broader or longer term problems. So the question "Will using X give me five seconds of enjoyment?" is treated as far more important than the question "If everyone uses X, will masses of people be thrown into poverty as the world economy is massively disrupted to benefit plutocrats?"

Yeah, fine, lots of AI content is probably moderately enjoyable, especially if your enjoyment threshold is pretty modest. Is it going to **** us over? Oh, yes, it is. And our inability to confront such wider questions, to pay attention to externalities, is why we can't have nice things and civilization will fall.
