I agree with a lot of what you're saying here though I think time limits on apps the way the Chinese do it is probably the best way to go. Still, it's bonkers to me that parents will give their kids their own smart devices, especially kids 12 and under.

Time limits, breaks in scrolling, nighttime curfews, all very good ideas! This helps children learn to use the platforms, but hopefully not get consumed by them.

Indeed. And I think it will have to come from the social media companies just like tamping down on cigarettes was forced on the cigarette companies. Social media is and addiction is like the smoking of our time. Something everyone thought was harmless, but…

Well, you've just pretty much encapsulated my thoughts on this whole subject! Young people know how to circumvent age verification perfectly well anyway.
