…just turned down three product integrations this week because they had no human customer support…if your business doesn’t believe in using human labor why would i spend my human time and money on you?…continually surprised by the amount of folks system dripping a.i. direct to the cortex so joyously…

AI support is nothing more than cost cutting and replacing human jobs with AI to show shareholders how efficient and “cutting edge” your company is

Social media is a cesspit anyway…good riddance

This has been such a topic of discussion in my groups lately. Especially the idea that now AI has to be everywhere, even if it adds no value. So depressing.

Like you, I'm optimistic there'll be a point at which platforms and media outlets realize that people don't want to engage with digital phantasms and change course.

It’s normally how it goes… but this has had so much money in it, and the technology itself (AI) will not be going anywhere. I wonder if there really is no going back this time — even if it makes no sense in most cases

Just maybe we can corral all the AI in one place and watch them hallucinate together!

In the end the machine will eat itself!!

I have never been on social media and the thought of communicating with a robot believing it to be human has got to be a non starter !!!! Substack has just hooked me though ???

Already a trash heap, sadly greed has prevailed. Hoping Substack can maintain some level of integrity!

The conclusion of AI and SNS will be something to be afraid of. We have to stop it with human will! This is a really good piece of writing.

The main reason I can think of is that Meta has been paying creators to produce content and it’s unquestionably cheaper to make unfeeling bots spit out posts 24/7. And easier! No more complaining about platform policies, quibbling over revenue sharing rates, demanding humane treatment. No, the robots are told to produce and that’s exactly what they do. That a lot of people seem to LIKE the slop is gravy on top.

The snake will start eating it's tail, I think, and that will end badly for Big Tech, the user and The Internet. You can already see it in image search. I do wonder how many profiles on Substack are A.I. generated - more than we imagine, I suppose. Once we get LOMs then the internet as we know it will die, I reckon.

Excellent read. The algorithm shows content from real humans that I know in real life - the LEAST. What is even the point of following anyone at all on META? It’s a force fed feed at this point.

Has been for a long while. Meta switched the focus from utility to engagement years back and that spelled the end for it

I'd been floundering to sell anything via Instagram for years, even trying out an advert to see if would boost visibility, Nothing. My feed was already full of people finding success reposting other people's videos and now? Hey here's someone who doesn't exist doing something they didn't do. Had my foot out the door and just using it for personal stuff instead... Then they dropped their other clanger. I "virtue signalled" a 12 year old insta account and a Facebook gimmick that was finding success in art groups the next day. Garbage company.

Will it achieve anything?

It's already made me feel a whole lot happier

I agree with this, even though most people would call me AI sludge. Trust me, this is going to suck for everyone.

The web and all digital platforms will bifurcate: authentic humans and utter fantasyland. There will be people looking to do the equivalent of have someone else dream for them. Then there will be the things where people want to know a human was involved much closer to the creation of the content.

I assume you have seen this then? https://www.reddit.com/r/ABoringDystopia/comments/1ht7fft/used_meta_ai_to_edit_a_selfie_now_instagram_is/

When looking to find out why meta decided to add AI profiles, I found 2 reasons. One was to increase engagement aka eyeball time (spark conversions as they said lol) as it's been dropping and the other was to improve metrics for influencers. As we all know the algo doesn't show people's stuff anymore so they are pissed, ai will inflate the metrics and keep people on the platform. It's so bananas.

Yeah was going to add this but decided against. Pretty dystopian stuff. Kinda terrible reasons right? We already know it’s dropping because the platform is broken, and metrics already mean nothing — now add in AI-inflated metrics? Grim
