Brownlee is risking his reputation for the sake of a $50-a-year cash-grab wallpaper app full of ads and low-resolution images that track your location.
Baffling is right. The whole "build in public" excuse is first and only flag I need not to pay for something. Plus, wallpapers for $12 a month? This whole pimp.my phone thing is nuts to my 46 year old mind.
I might be wrong, I need to find the video on TikTok again, but I think he gave the iPhone 16 a pass. One of the biggest grifts in the parade of iPhone upgrades (needlessly) released every year. Other than an annoying side button for taking photos (that everyone keeps triggering each time they grab their phone) it's essentially the same phone as the 15. BUT COLORS!!!!!!! PINK!!!!!!!! TURQUOISE!!!!!
So the guy who critiques tech so beautifully is the same guy who puts out a garbage app? No one on Brownlee’s team was willing to tell him this is a horrible idea? Sounds about right!

The idea of having artists create backgrounds and split the revenue is admirable. It was just poorly executed.
